Serving counts depend on both the diameter and height of your cake. Celebration servings are cut a little more generously, while event servings are smaller portions commonly used for weddings and larger gatherings. Tall cake slices may be divided into two servings. Celebration servings are more generous portions, perfect for birthdays and smaller gatherings. Event servings are smaller portions typically used for weddings and larger celebrations. For larger celebrations, cupcakes can be added to accommodate your full guest count. Serving counts are estimates and will vary slightly depending on cake height, filling, and how the cake is cut.
Dietary options & minimums
Gluten-free and dairy-free options are available for select flavors with a one-dozen minimum for cupcakes. Because Sugar Mountain is a home bakery where traditional wheat, dairy, soy, eggs, and nuts are also used, I’m unable to guarantee an allergen-free environment.
If you or your guests have dietary needs or allergies, please let me know when you inquire and I’ll be happy to go over the options available to you.
Lead times
Custom cakes are best booked as early as possible, especially during the busy summer and wedding season. For smaller celebration orders, I recommend reaching out at least two weeks in advance whenever possible.
Availability is limited, and your date is officially reserved once your order is confirmed and the required retainer has been received.
Pickup
Cake and cupcake pickup is available from my home bakery in Soldotna or at the Duck Inn, depending on the order and my availability. Your pickup location will be confirmed on the day of pickup.
For the safest ride home, cakes should travel on a flat, level surface in a temperature-controlled vehicle rather than on a seat or someone’s lap. Once you arrive, keep your cake refrigerated or somewhere cool and protected until you're ready to bring it to room temperature.
Cakes taste their very best at room temperature, when the cake is soft and the buttercream has had a chance to come back to its ideal texture. I recommend taking your cake out of the refrigerator and placing it in a temperature-controlled room about two hours before serving.
Once your order has been picked up, I’m unable to take responsibility for damage caused during transportation, handling, or improper storage—but I’ll always make sure you have the information you need to get your cake safely where it’s going.
Pickups by appointment
Wedding delivery & setup
Wedding delivery and setup start at $75 within 10 driving miles of Soldotna, including placement and standard setup. Additional travel is quoted by distance, and delivery depends on your venue, date, and my availability.
For tiered cakes and designs that are especially delicate or difficult to transport, I may recommend or require delivery so I can make sure everything arrives safely and looks exactly as it should when your guests arrive.
If you’re unsure whether pickup or delivery makes the most sense for your cake, we can decide together when we finalize your order.
Fresh flowers
Fresh flowers are my favorite choice for floral cake designs and are what I recommend over faux or wooden florals for the most natural, beautiful finish.
When ordering flowers for your cake, please share the same inspiration photo with your florist that you’ve shared with me. This helps make sure I receive the right variety, size, and quantity of flowers to bring your cake design to life.
Cake flowers should be delivered to my home the day before your event so I have plenty of time to prepare and arrange them thoughtfully. I add all florals before delivery and do not arrange flowers on the cake at the venue.
Flowers should arrive fresh, clean, and safe for use around food. If a flower or greenery isn’t cake-safe, I may need to leave it out or use an appropriate food-safe barrier.
Because every bundle of flowers is a little different, the final arrangement will naturally depend on the variety, size, condition, and quantity of florals provided. If what I receive differs from the inspiration photo, I’ll use what’s available to create a beautiful arrangement that stays as close as possible to your original vision.
